I’m Dr Bob Gough and I’ve spent over 35 years in the satellite communications business, both with the European Space Agency and in Industry.
I’m currently Head of Business Development, Australia & Asia-Pacific for Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd, from my Australian base in Queensland. A handy location which is only an hour’s drive to either the Gold Coast airport or to Brisbane International airport.
I’m also a Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) at which I’m the Chair of the Media Relations Subcommittee of the (AIAA’s) Communications Systems Technical Committee (CMSTC).
As Engineering Coordinator, Global Operations I also work for the Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) which aims to promote innovation in the satellite communication industry to improve operational efficiency and reduce impact, saving time and money.
In addition to my consulting and technical software business I’m also the Senior Contributing Editor, Asia-Pacific of SatMagazine and MilsatMagazine where I contribute to the Insight and Focus features. These are published monthly by the long-established Satnews Publishers, which is arguably the market leading publisher in the field.
As part of this editorial position I’m always on the lookout for newsworthy stories, articles and perspectives on the industry, so I’m open to any ideas and enquiries.
As a taster, why not have a look at the Insight Feature “Goonhilly, Yesterday, Today + Tomorrow” in the November 2011 issue of SatMagazine? There’s a direct link to it on the blog post of the same name here on this site.
