Every year there are hundreds, if not thousands of earthquakes but the only ones to make the headlines are those that impact significantly on us humans. 2011 was a bad year for such events – I don’t need to name them as they will all flash into your mind as you read this.
For a while now I’ve been composing a blog post with the provisional title “The Ultimate Seismograph – How to Survive an Earthquake”. It describes an earthquake I was in and the very unique situation that transpired. While putting the finishing touches to it I realised that “How to Survive an Earthquake” demanded a separate blog post of its own, so here it is.
I hope to have the other part, “The Ultimate Seismograph” posted over the weekend.
No pictures, maps or glib comments in this post, but I urge you to look at and absorb the contents of Doug Copp’s blog. This completely overturns more than one myth about what to do (and what NOT to do) in the event of an earthquake. Discover for yourself the Triangle of Life at

Read it and remember it – just in case it happens to you, like it happened to me!
Hi, just thought I’d make myself known here to you too. On top of other titles including PhDs, we also share the fate of earthquake survivors 🙂
Good informative post!
