I came across this very interesting and relevant article for anyone seeking a job in the IT and programming fields. It's a real eye-opener and definitely worth reading. Scary really, and is equally applicable in other fields too.
It's "Recruitment is a Bit Broken" by David Bolton, who has a very good website and blog. It's Part 1 of 2.
